Christmas Crafts

02 December, 2014

I've been looking for ways to (cheaply) decorate my apartment for the holidays.  Right now it is covered with colored lights from walmart and dollar store tinsel garlands.  I have two paper-based wreaths that have miraculously survived (with just a little touch up) to be displayed for their 3rd Christmas.  Both I got from pinterest links:

So much hot glue.

This year so far all I've made is a little snow man coffee cup:

 Back to pinteresting!

UPDATE!

After a trip to Michael's craft store, and the purchase of some clear plastic balls, I have more crafts:

Ornaments

These are just cheap plastic ornaments.  The green with dots and navy with stars were filled with watered down craft paint and then drained (so the paint doesn't flake and they are shiny.  The decorations are pained on with sharpie metallic markers.  The other ball was first decorated with fabric paint swirls.  After those dried (>24 hrs), I painted over the whole thing with navy craft paint, and then dry brushed some gold highlights.  I also colored the topper using gold paint pen.  I'm not sure how well these will hold up, since the plastic probably doesn't hold the paint to well.  But for now they are working!

Update #2: Christmas cookies, part 1

My mom and I make Christmas cookies every year.  My brother and dad help by stealing extra dough and adding gobs of sugar/icing to the decorations.

I decided to make some for friends, to spread the Christmas cheer (part 2 will be the family cookies).
